Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 14, 2026
1. Introduction
WasteOps ("we", "our", "us") operates the wasteops.org platform, a fleet management and waste collection operations system for Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators in Nigeria. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly and information collected automatically:
- Account Information: Name, phone number, email address, and organization details when you register.
- Customer Data: Customer names, addresses, phone numbers, and service details that you enter into the platform.
- GPS Location Data: Real-time location data from driver devices during active routes for pickup verification and fleet tracking.
- Photo Evidence: Timestamped photos taken during waste pickups for proof of collection.
- Payment Information: Invoice and payment records processed through Paystack. We do not store card details directly.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and browser information for service optimization.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the WasteOps platform
- To verify waste collection pickups using GPS and photo evidence
- To generate invoices and process payments through Paystack
- To send operational notifications via SMS or email
- To provide fleet tracking and route optimization
- To improve our services and develop new features
4. Data Isolation and Multi-Tenancy
WasteOps uses a multi-tenant architecture with strict data isolation. Each organization's data (customers, routes, invoices, drivers, and revenue) is completely separated from other organizations. No operator can access another operator's data.
5. GPS and Location Data
Location data is collected from driver devices only during active routes. Drivers are informed when GPS tracking is active. Location data is used solely for pickup verification, fleet monitoring, and route performance analysis. GPS data is stored securely and accessible only to the driver's organization.
6. Photo Storage
Pickup verification photos are stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare R2). Photos are associated with specific pickups and are accessible only to the organization that collected them. Photos are compressed before upload to minimize data usage.
7. Payments and Financial Data
Payment processing is handled by Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. WasteOps does not store credit card or bank account details. We retain invoice records and payment confirmation data for accounting purposes.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure authentication (PIN, passkeys, OAuth), and row-level security at the database level. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Operational data (pickup records, invoices) is retained for the legally required period. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
10. Your Rights
In accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Request data portability
